Accepting these terms
These terms apply when you use this website or hire United Auburn Concrete and Masonry for work at your home or property. By using the site, asking for an estimate or booking a job, you agree to them, so please read them first.
If a written estimate or contract we sign with you for a specific job says something different from these terms, that signed document controls for that job.
The work we do
United Auburn Concrete and Masonry is a masonry contractor in Auburn, AL. We repair and build brick, block, stone and concrete work, including foundations, chimneys, retaining walls, pavers, walkways, fireplaces and outdoor kitchens, for homeowners in Auburn and the cities around it.
The pages on this site describe the work in general terms. Your written estimate or contract sets the scope of your job, the materials and the finished result. You can read more about who we are on our About page.
Estimates and pricing
Our on-site estimates are free and carry no obligation. We look at the job in person because the condition of the existing masonry, the soil, the access and the materials you choose all affect the price.
An estimate is based on what we can see on the day we visit. Masonry often hides problems behind a wall, under a slab or inside a chimney, such as water damage, rotted framing or a broken footing. If we find something like that once work starts, we'll stop, show you and give you the added cost before going further. We won't do extra work without your approval.
Material prices change, so your estimate will say how long its price holds. Any price shown or discussed on this website is general information. It isn't an offer or a quote for your job.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We'll give you a start date when you accept your estimate. That date can move, because weather, material deliveries, inspections where they apply and earlier jobs all affect when we start and finish.
Mortar and concrete need the right temperature and dry conditions to cure properly, so we won't lay brick or pour in heavy rain or a hard freeze, even if that pushes the date back. We aren't responsible for delays caused by things outside our control, such as severe weather, supplier shortages or government action.
You agree to give our crew reasonable access to the work area and to keep vehicles, pets and belongings clear of it while we work.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us at (334) 780-0060 as early as you can. If we've already ordered special-order materials or started work, you'll pay for those materials and the work done up to that point, as your estimate or contract describes.
Payment
Your written estimate or contract states the price, any deposit and when each payment is due, and payment is due on those terms.
If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's made. We may also use any collection and lien rights Alabama law gives a contractor who hasn't been paid.
Our guarantee and what it doesn't cover
We're licensed and insured, and your satisfaction is guaranteed. If something isn't right with work we did, call us and we'll come back and look at it.
Any written warranty for a specific job, including how long it lasts and what it covers, will be in your estimate or contract. Bricks, pavers, block and other products carry their own makers' warranties, which we pass along to you where they apply.
Some things come with natural and cured materials and aren't defects. Concrete can develop small hairline cracks as it cures and settles. New brick, stone and mortar won't always match older work exactly in color or texture, and efflorescence, a white powder that can show up on new masonry as moisture works its way out, usually fades on its own.
Our guarantee doesn't cover damage from soil movement, tree roots, drainage we didn't install, flooding, freezing, misuse, or changes and repairs someone else makes after we finish. Except for what we state in writing, this website and its content are provided as is, without warranties of any kind.
Limits on our liability
To the extent Alabama law allows, our total liability for any claim tied to a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.
We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of your property, lost rent, or damage from conditions that existed before we started. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Using this website
The information on this site is general and meant to help you understand masonry work. It isn't engineering advice and can't account for your particular property, so a serious structural problem may also need an engineer's review.
The text and photos on this site belong to United Auburn Concrete and Masonry, and you may not copy them for commercial use without our permission. Links to other websites are there for convenience, and we don't control those sites.
Settling disagreements and Alabama law
If you have a problem with our work or a bill, call us first. Most issues get settled with a conversation at the job, and we'll make a good-faith effort to work it out with you.
If we can't settle it that way, these terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama. Any lawsuit will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Lee County, Alabama, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and changes take effect when we post them here. You can reach this page anytime from our home page.
The version posted when you request an estimate or sign a contract is the one that applies to that job.
